Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University Main Campus

Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University (VSKU) is a State University established by the Government of Karnataka under the Karnataka State Universities Act 2000. It is an affiliating university with about 100 affiliated colleges offering both undergraduate and post graduate programs. The university covers the districts of Ballari and Koppal. The region under the jurisdiction of the university is considered economically and educationally backward compared the national and the state average. Hence, the university endeavors to embark on innovative means of higher education in order to make it both qualitative and affordable.

Nandihalli Campus

Jnana sarovara is the Post-Graduate Centre of VSKUB located at Nandihalli about 8 KMs from Sandur Town. This lush green campus situated in a valley is surrounded by hill ranges and spans over a vast expanse of 242.65 Acres area. This campus is the oldest post graduate centre of Karnataka which was originally established in 1975 by Karnataka University, Dharwad. The college of geology and mineral processing was also started to meet the requirement of technically skilled human resource to the then proposed Vijayanagara Steel plant, Toranagallu. In 1980, the PG centre came under the jurisdiction of Gulbarga University, Gulbarga and in 2010, PG centre was taken into the jurisdiction of Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ballari.

In 2020-21, over 350 students are pursuing higher education across departments. Mayura Bhavan, located at the heart of the campus, shelters the administration section, A function hall, 16 Lecture halls and 27 faculty rooms. A well equipped computer lab and a fully functional library in the campus equipped with over 33,000 Books cater to the academic needs of students and faculty members. The campus also has LCD projectors, a geology museum and 6 mineral processing laboratories.

The campus also has a well equipped Tungabhadra boys’ hostel which can accomodate 112 PG students and 16 Ph.D scholars. The campus also houses a designated SC/ST Boys’ Hostel, Working Women’s Hostel, a spacious Girls’ Hostel and an expansive Guest House – complete with lounge, dining hall and comfortable rooms. Well furnished Staff Quarters also cater to the housing needs of teaching and non teaching staff

Koppal Campus

Being a part of the Kalyana Karnataka (371-J) region, Koppal has a rich historical, geographical, cultural heritage. The Postgraduate Centre, Koppal, strives to materialise the university’s mandate – “envisioning the power of the mind”. The students of the region used to travel to distant places to pursue various PG courses. Now, the centre has put a stop to the migration of talented minds to remote locations.

Having been established at the heart of Koppal city in 2016, the number of departments has increased from 07 to 11; hence the centre stands the biggest off-campus of our esteemed university. With the 13 acres of allotted land, the centre hopes to serve the learning community effectively in future.

Since its inception, the centre has added many jewels to the crown of the esteemed university. From being one of the active counselling centres for the online admission process in 2020-21 to record an increasing number of admissions in the academic year 2020-21, the centre aims towards reaching the demanding heights of cerebral growth. The academic year 2020-21 is known for establishing the Department of Mathematics and the maximum admission to the Department of English. The ideal student-to-staff ratio (SSR) at the centre, i.e. s 16:1, reiterates the faculty’s commitment towards creating a promising knowledge society.

The dedicated library with a collection of more than 4400 books feeds hungry minds every day. The books published by the standard publication houses have been promoting high-quality learning and research. The increasing number of rank holders and more or less 100% passing results stand testimonial to the quality learning at the centre. Various social welfare awareness activities are initiated at the centre. The centre’s physical space is effectively used for class rooms, staff rooms, a laboratory, computer facility, and a seminar hall.
The increasing number of female students taking admissions to the various programmes here reiterates our beloved Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Beti Bachao Beti Padao”, a proclamation towards upholding gender equality.

Yalburga Campus

Since, P G Centre Yalburga is the branch of the VSKUniversity, Ballari and runs as per the regulations of theVSK University, Ballari. All department is having qualified
staff members with the state of art infrastructure. Although,P G Centre Yalburga may be youngest PG Centre, butinfrastructure is far better than any other oldest university inKarnataka. P G Centre Yalburga is started in the year 2017-18 and having seven departments namely M A inEconomics, M A in History &Archaeology, M A in PoliticalScience, M A in Kannada, M A in English, M Com and M SW.Apart from syllabus we also run classes on Communication Skills and NET/KSET coaching classes. As a result many studentsqualified in NET/KSET exam.
