Brief CV of Prof. K M Metry
Dr. K M Metry, currently the Vice Chancellor of VSK University Ballari, holds the position of Senior Professor in the Department of Tribal Studies at Kannada University, Hampi, with a distinguished academic career spanning over three decades. Joining as an Associate Professor (Reader) on February 27, 1996, he progressed to the role of Professor from 2004 to 2016. Before his tenure at Kannada University, Dr. Metry served in various capacities, including Assistant Professor in Sociology, Teacher Educator, Superintendent, and Principal at different educational institutions.
His academic journey includes acquiring a Post-graduate degree in Sociology from Gulbarga University in 1986, a Ph.D. from Mysore University in 1994, a Master of Education degree from Annamalai University in 1999, and a Master of Arts in Anthropology from Indira Gandhi National Open University in 2021. Additionally, he has completed 18 Diploma and Certificate Courses from various institutions.
With extensive experience in teaching, research, and administration, Dr. Metry has mentored 11 M.Phil and 45 Ph.D. students, supervised Post Doctoral Fellows, and undertaken numerous research projects funded by esteemed organizations. He has authored 46 books and 173 research articles in Kannada, English, and Hindi, and has actively organized national and international seminars, workshops, conferences, special lectures Training andWebinars.
Dr. Metry’s contributions transcend academia, as he has been appointed to various committees by State and Central Governments and Universities. He has received numerous national and international awards for his contributions to Tribal and Nomadic communities’ culture, literature, education, and organization.
His research interests encompass Regional and Cultural Studies, Ethnic Studies, Tribal and Marginalized issues, Indigenous knowledge systems, Tribal literature, and Language, among others. As a resource person, Dr. Metry has actively participated in numerous academic events and delivered special lectures on various topics, showcasing his dedication to social justice and empowerment.

Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University at Ballari is one of the youngest university dedicated to design, Development and delivery of higher education in the districts of Ballari and Koppal.
