Sri Thaawar Chand Gehlot (born May 18, 1948) is an Indian politician currently serving as the 19th Governor of Karnataka. He is the first person to hold this position from Madhya Pradesh. Appointed Governor of Karanataka on July 6, 2021, he assumed office on July 11, 2021. Gehlot previously served as the Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt of India from 2014 to 2021. He also held the position of Leader of the the upper house of the Indian Parliament and was a member of the Parliamentary Board and the Central Election Committee of the BJP
