The Department of Studies in Mathematics has a History of over three decades. Initially, it was a part of Gulbarga University, Gulbarga, which was later incorporated in the Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University, Ballari, in the year 2010. The Department offers opportunities for education and research in a vide spectrum of areas in Mathematics conferring M.Sc,. and Ph.D degrees. The Departments promotes theoretical and applies research, Publishes original research works and develops interaction with other departments of the University. Besides, some of the faculty members, have successfully executed several research projects funded by state government, National and International agencies.

. The Faculty members have written several books for the benifits of scholars/ students, young teachers, post-Doctoral Scholars and for the visitinf fellows. An extensive research work in the fields of Mathematical modeling, Computational fluid Machanics, Magnetohydronomics, Graph Theory, Number Theory, Funtional Anaysis and wave lets etc., are carried out and many research articals/ papers have been published in National and International Journals of repute..
